Symptom: Dark mode does nothing

Root cause#

darkMode: "class" needs the dark class on <html>; media strategy needs an OS setting.

The fix#

Add document.documentElement.classList.add("dark") or switch strategies; inspect the compiled selector.

Verify#

  • Hard-refresh (the CSS cache is the #1 false negative)
  • Re-generate and re-link the stylesheet
  • Search the docs for the exact class — spelling is unforgiving
